Just received Bradley Digital Electric as a Gift

Thread Starter

After some initial setbacks in setup it is up and running. This is my first smoker other than a Weber Charcoal grill I used to have and used wood chips with years ago.  I am also new to these forums but an active in other forums for other addictions I have in life. This is just the latest

Unpacking was uneventful and setup was pretty easy. Moving on to seasoning the is where the first problem was noted. The smoke uses hockey puck pieces of wood that are mechanically pushed on to a burner. It was evident from the start of the process that piece was not working. I called Bradly and was instructed to remove and take apart the the side box that houses the digital display and the burner that heats the puck. I was told to reseat all of the connections in the box to see if this resolved the issue. After 8 screws and reseating about 6 wires I was able to plug it back in and test it. The gentleman at Bradley said this is a normal course of their trouble shooting to have customers do this. The reseating process did in fact fix the problem and I was able to season the box.

I am doing a couple of chickens tonight and we will see how this works out. As I received the smoker as a gift I really can't come at it from the point of cost to consumer repair OTB but I can say that to have an item of this price point fail out of the box and to hear the support make it sound like this is a common problem is a little worry some. The support people at Bradley were cordial and helpful with no waiting. We will have to see how the whole thing works out when the smoke clears!

Like you, I wouldn't judge it too quickly.

Give you & your new toy a chance to get to know each other, and see what happens.

All kinds of people are here to help you.

You might want to go to Roll call & introduce yourself, so the gang here can give you a proper welcome!!!

Meanwhile, Welcome from The Bear,

Bear

Congratz on the gift, I have done many a smoke in mine.  Sometimes the "Pucks" won't advance when they are supposed to.  This can be caused by "Crumbles" from the pucks causing the arm to not move through it's full range of motion.  I check on mine once n hour as once in a while they won't advance and the smoke stops.  It seems to be more common when I have a full stack of pucks. Just hit the >>> button and advance it.

Other than that, it's a great smoker.

Looking forward to seeing some QView from you :)

Congrats on your Bradley. I bought the four rack digital and love it. I have not had any problems with it and I have used it several times. I recommend getting some Bubba Pucks to ensure your pucks advance. I always clean my door seals after each smoke and dry them. Good luck with your smoking.
