Wondering if anyone could provide some insight on this combination?  I have a MES 30.  I dont really have a problem keeping a decent smoke going, just hate having to pop one or two chips in every 15-20 minutes.  I really dont know anythting about the AMAZEN and would love an explanation.  Also, wonder where I could get it, how to use it, etc.  Thanks everyone!

I think about 90% of the MES owners here have one. Todd is a member here and will take care of you. The link to his site is in my signature. Its the AMNS link. I love mine.

I think the simplest explanation is that once you get the AMNPS lit, it smolders sort of like incense, and puts out perfect thin blue smoke for more than 10 hours.  I won't smoke without one.

I bought an MES40 a couple of months ago -- I've never used the trip tray or burned chips in it.  I started off with my AMNS, then got the AMNPS.  Couldn't be happier.  I can't see using my MES any other way -- why worry about loading chips every so often?

All good info above.

I was one of Todd's testers for the AMNS & then the AMNPS, while he was perfecting them.

I also told everyone how great they are.

Now all I have to do is agree with everyone else who has one, and maybe throw a tip in now & then.

These things sell themselves, because the quality & service is second to nothing I have ever seen in my 62 years!

I didn't really think I'd be cold smoking much of anything, but after reading some of the posts for smoked cheese and bacon, I'm convinced that I need one of these. Also like the idea of not having to constanly add chips during a long smoke. Looks like I'll probably be placing an order for the AMNPS real soon (tonight).

I bought my MES40 this summer, and have never used the chip box.  I used my AMNS the first few times, then got the AMNPS.  It's the way to go in my book.  I can't see a reason to use chips in it.  Like others have said, you won't be sorry.

do these amaz n smokers add much heat when they burn?

They add very little. It depends on the smoker your using.

If it's insulated, double walled with a tight fitting door like a MES, then they will contribute a little heat.

The pellet version a little more than the dust one.

I placed an order for the AMNPS last week and received it Saturday. I had a pork butt in the smoker when it arrived, so I was already comitted to adding chips every so often. Those days are gone now... Can't wait to use it! Looking forward to smoking some cheese.

Question. When cold smoking with the MES, how do you monitor the internal temp of the smoker? I don't have a seperate digital thermometer, so the only way I see is to turn it on, but don't set temp or time on the MES. Will that work or do I need to have a seperate thermometer?
