Question about my ET-73

Thread Starter

I have the ET-73 and it has worked great. Yesterday while smoke'n a pork butt the digital readout began showing HHH. I changed batteries, and it still show'd HHH. But, it did return to normal.......for a while. Then it was back again to the HHH.

Do any of you garoos know what causes this????

Was it it the sun?

HHH means the either the temp is too high or the probe went bad.  I have the ET732 and as hard as I try to not get them wet where the wire enters the probe I have this happen, I have never gotten one to work after I get the HHH.

To be honest........I don't know if it had sun lite. It started to rain shortly after.........so I'm think'n it was cloudy and no sun.

In my case the temp was not to high and maybe I lucked out because I was able to finish the smoke using my thermometer. I compared it's temp to a manual meat thermometer.........so it was very close to right on.

Get a hold of Maverick, they may send you a new probe.

There starting to get a reputation, mine lasted 3 smokes before I got the HHH on the food probe.

I have had mine for more than a year with no problems.

I dropped it last month and it started the HHHs and had something rattling around inside.

Figured it was time for a new unit.

Turned it on a week later and it was working ..rattle and all.

I've not had any problems from mine (Yet)

The only time I had the  HHH was when the temp got high.

It's either the temp or the probe.

I would do what AL suggested and contact Maverick.
