I am going to be purchasing a smoker tonight and have narrowed it down between these too. I have read and researched and haven't really found a definitive answer to the difference except some people like the split door and some like the offset. Is there really a big difference? Obviously, I'd like to stay as low possible in regards to price but don't mind if I have to pay a few extra bucks and not regret getting an inferior product. I also understand that I will need to modify the Brinkmann a little if I purchase that one and I don't mind having to do that. I've wanted to smoke for some time and have read so much I think I am over-analyzing everything. Can't wait to get started with everything and just do it.

Thanks for the warm welcome!

Well I ended up getting the Brinkmann last night. I seasoned it with some veggie oil and she's ready to go today. I found a charcoal basket that was a stainless steel strainer and it seems to work great. I understand why some people had the problems they were having with these but I was able to get it up to about 275 and then closing the dampers I kept an even 200 for a few hours so I'm not too worried about this thing. Ribs are rubbed and going on in a few hours. I'll take some pics and post a qview.
