BLT CLUB (With a Special Side)

BLT CLUB (With a Special Side)

This is only my second BLT Club, since my Maters have started ripening about a week ago.

None of my big Maters are ripe yet, and I don't have a whole lot of cherry maters, so I decided to make only one BLT Club, and add a nice side, to complete the dish.

I chose the side that I knew all of my Buddies at SMF are crazy about.

I'm always thinking about you guys!!!

Enjoy,
Bear

Three slices of Italian Bread, Miracle Whip, and some lettuce:

Add some slices of Cherry Maters:

Had a bad picture that showed 3 of those short Bacon slices, and the middle slice of bread.

Now 5 short slices on top of the middle slice:

Then close it up, and throw a mess of Cherry Maters sliced in half on the plate:

AND The Great Finisher---------A Nice Set of Shad Roe, fried in Bacon Grease!!!!

And a BearView shot, so we can see a couple million little Shad eggs exposed to the viewers.

Go ahead---Zoom in and get a good look at one of the most tasty things known to man----And Bear:

Looks scrumptious though I would prefer a little toasting on the bread.

LOL---I've been known to toast my bread lightly---especially when I'm hungry!!!!  Look closely--you'll see a little brown here & there.  biggrin.gif

Thanks Capt,

Bear

Drooling is good for you. It clears the salivary glands!!

Kinda hard on the keyboard though.

Thanks Joe!

Looks Great Bear!

I LOVE me a BLT, but I smear a little horseradish on, with the mayo.

Where do you find Shad Eggs?

Hmmmmm, I never tried horse radish in a BLT---But I certainly will !!

Where do I get Shad Roe???---Long story, but here goes:

I used to catch them, but not many, because I didn't know the ropes, and you gotta know how to catch Shad---They are different than all other fish, as far as how to catch them.

They serve it in a few restaurants around here, but it is expensive!!! Then a restaurant owner made a mistake, and sold me 5 sets of Roe he had left at the end of a season, and when I picked them up, he wasn't there, so the bartender got them out of the freezer for me. He gave them to me in the container they came in, which had the Wholesaler's name & address on it. The following year I got 20 sets from them @ $7.50 per set. For the last few years, I only got some when they had them at Giant food store ($9 or $10 per set). Now my Son tells me he'll get me all I can eat, starting next season, because he got a new guy on his Pool Team, who was the big leader of the "Shad Hot Line", out of Easton, PA. That guy catches about 600 Shad per year, and he told my Son he'll teach him the ropes. My Son has a Bassboat with a Jet outboard specifically for fishing the rocky Delaware River. We shall see what happens next year.

Thanks Scott !!

You say a club should have Turkey in it.

Al says it should have chicken in it.

I'm not sure about this, but I have always assumed that All Club Sammies have Bacon in them, no matter what kind it is.

A Turkey Club has Turkey & Bacon.

A Chicken Club has Chicken & Bacon.

A Roast Beef Club has Roast Beef & Bacon.

A Ham Club has Ham & Bacon.

And A BLT Club has Bacon & Bacon in it-------My favorite.  biggrin.gif

I just had 2 BLTs tonight.

Thanks,

Bear

Bear, those must be different shad than I'm used to, the ones here are smaller than the roe you have. You must have shadzilla in your parts. icon_eek.gif

Most of the ones caught in the Delaware run between 19" and 21".

Here is what we have here (American Shad):

You might have the "Hickory Shad", a smaller species.
