Anyone know where I can get a long snack stick tube for my 5lb stuffer ? The one that I have is just to short and like to work me to death making these sticks.I have looked at 2 suppliers with no luck. Would like a plastic one...Thanks

OK, I'll go first here with a question... what is a "snack stick tube", what is it

used for, how do you use it, and when you say 5lb stuffer...is that a chicken????

LOL that looks like 4 questions! The stuffer is the machine that stuffs meat into a casing to make sausage, and a snack stick (think Slim Jim) tube is a tube that attaches to the stuffer ( the machine not the bird) to stuff the small casings used to make sticks. Stick around Master and you'll be a sausage maker before ya know it.

How long of one do ya want Roller? I got a stainless steel one from Lem I think. I'd have to measure it for length but I love it compared to the plastic ones.

I'll see if I can find the link for it.

here ya go, similar to mine but with a bell end, mine is funneled at the end with 6" of straight tube.

Lem is where I got mine, It is about 2X the length of the plastic one and it isn't tapered like the plastic ones are...

Use "Extra Water" when using the snack sticks stuffing tube.  Your stuffer may be working too hard, and you can strip the gears.

I remember an old post, where a guy used a large washer and a piece of plastic pipe to make his own.

I never found one longer than 6-8" for my LEM 5lb so i had one made all SS.

17 to 20mm collagen fit on the tube very good.

I think this is the thread Todd is talking about. http://www.smokingmeatforums.com/forum/thread/58831/homemade-1-2-inch-stuffer-tube

I made one out of 3/8" PEX that is about 12" long and uses a nylon washer to mate with my stuffer. To keep the PEX from popping out of the nylon washer I flared one end of the PEX with a brake line flaring tool. It works well if the meat isn't too stiff. They key to making it work is what Todd said, mix extra water.

Roller, Mornin'........I used the smallest tube on my Grizzly stuffer and had the granddaughter help out. I had to add extra water to get it to flow out the tube. I also used a filler soy powder to get the meat to "stick " together. They came out really good.

LOL...thanks DanMcG, now I'm up to speed. I'm going to have to investigate this.

I never dreamed in my life I would even be considering making my own sausage

and Slim Jim's. Are there any tutorials or websites for instruction that you guy's

know of?
