Hi. New to meat smoking and new to homemade builds. I was drawn to this forum by an idea i saw on tv. I have never tried smoking meat of anysort. I like to cool so i thought this is a way of taking it to the next level. I have upto now....removed the valve from a stainless steel keg... drilled the holes to alow the air for the fire...i am now at the point where i have to cut it. What is the best tool for the job. I have access to a 9" grinder, will this be ok, how many blades....where do i start. Id love some advice from some pros. This is my first post so i look forward to becoming a member of this forum

Hello

I'm building one myself but more like the Brinkmann. I thought about it but I want to keep the heat in, if you make the top the smaller joint your smoke is going to come out the joint and you will have the sut from your coals going up the outside. Then it still gets messy. You just have to degrease it after using it each time if you want to keep it clean! Can't wait to cook a Boston butt on it or a tri tip roast on mine will post picks when it's finished..

Keep on smoking!

Has anyone tried something like this with a beer keg but using a gas burner as the heat source? I have a 100 litre keg but having trouble finding a suitable burner.
