Is it electric, gas, or charcoal? How does the heat get from one side to the other?

A good pressure washing and you might have you one fine smoker. Now I would recommend that you use an electric burner for a heat source. Then you could build a small raised place for your chips and you'll be smoking.

Looking good!

You might find some helpful instructions in the building section.
