How much money was raised and how much did you sell each container for? BRAVO!!

Where would I find the mustard slather recipe and the Jeff's rub recipe?

BigIrish is correct about purchasing Jeff's rub. I have not found a person yet that thinks it's not good. Everyone loves it. As far as the mustard slather goes, I found it in a book by Paul Kirk about Championship cooking. There is a whole chapter devoped to mustard slathers. The one I used is called Art's Mustard Sauce:

2 cups perpared yellow mustard

1/2 cup Pickle juice

2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce

1 teaspoon hot pepper sauce

Good  luck.

I haven't heard back from the youth minister, but I am guessing we made up to about $350 or so. We sold the pulled pork by the pound for $6. That is about the going rate around here, but for this we could have gone higher and probably will next time. We were able to get the meat for about $1.29/lb for most of it, so we did okay over all. Several people told us we should have charged more, so why not next time. We will probably do this again once or twice more this year. It is a big hit.

Good lookin pile of pork. I do several fundraisers  a year also, but I sell the butts whole for $30 apiece so I don't have to worry about pulling them and such. Since I have gotten good results with the butts I have a list of my regulars and can make a few calls and drop in on some coworkers and easily have 35-40 sold in no time. The only problem is that around here pork has gone up so much ($1.79) I might have to go to $35 apiece, but I have been at $30 for 4 years. The butts usually weigh 8-10 lbs pre-cooked weight and by the time I have paid for the meat, charcoal, foil, rub, and juice we profit almost 50%, just a little info for you since you are going to do more in the future.

Keep up the good work, you will have a whole group of teens that become great helpers.  I find it amazing how kids love to dive into this hobby.  It's the next generation of chain-smokers!
