I have  my plenty big BEVO baker now and have gotten hooked on building. I have a few smaller reverse flows in the works for friends that have had Q from mine. I love my stick burner and always will but I'm ready to try something new. I could use a smaller unit for single briskets or butts. Something fairly easy to control and can run for a long time unattended. That way dinner can cook while I build RF's. I'm gettting a drum soon from afriend and will attempt my first UDS build. Has anyone made a UDS from a 30 gallon barrel and if so, did it make a difference in the way it operated? Thanks for any input as I really would like to "branch out" and add new toys to my collection.

I made one for a buddy and he's so happy with it he turned down a 55 gallon one .

18 1/2 in grills fit it and the lid for it is from his ECB ,i left enough of a lip in the top for it to sit on and

hes uses the water pan fro it too  The lid he's using now is from a damaged 18 1/2 wsm bottom

Dave, did you do anything different with the vents on the smaller size drum?

I have one of these sitting out back, I just haven't messed with it yet.

handles from the ecb

Gus (my Buddy) has had this for almost a year now and swears by it .

It works as good as my WSM  and will 14 hours and still have charcoal left.

The only thing he's changed is he added the Bottom of  my old WSM for a bigger lid

If you use parts from a ecb you can still build one for less than 70 bucks

We had a  couple ecbs from years gone by and used the parts from one of his
