going back and re reading everyone post and comments for a new guy.. you guys are great and thanks again for yalls help.

Small update,

  Got a charcoal grill added for steaks and grilled items. 

test fit to see what a good height would be for the grill setting it up on some blocks.

After setting it up there it fit nice in the spot.  The funny looking stack is on there because I was thinking about

added a damper to it, and plumbing it into the fire box for smoke extra smoking area if I needed..

But It hit the tank worse than I thought, and the angle of the lid looked like it would blast you in the face with heat

and also get really hot when starting the charcoal..

So cut it off and added a vent from ace hardware and not connect it to the fire box just made a damper on the other side.

Also made me  a log starter to help out.

Thanks again for checking it out.

Still thinking about adding a small warming box on top of my fire box..

You guys with the log lighters and gas assists are killing me with jealousy. Is it just me or is the flame yellow? How are you mixing air with the propane?

Here is a simple burner  that you will get a pretty blue flame and save you gas.Yellow flame is not very efficient.http://www.backyardmetalcasting.com/oliverburner1.html

it is Im still working on getting a air mixture I found me a piece of pipe that i can slide over some intake holes to adjust the mixture...lol thats my plan anyway!

Man thats a flame thrower dont think I could ever get mine to flame on like that dude, But i'm working it to get it better.

Going to try some stuff tonight and will post up my success or epic fail.

well no luck yet getting a better flame drilled a hole by the valve to pull in some air worked a little bit till i really gave it some gas..

then a small amount of hair was lost...

Trying to make some nozzles to add to were the gas comes out kinda like the small propane torch and see what happens.

That looks awesome. Nice work. Love the separate charcoal grill. You may have too large of a gas orifice and you will never get enough venturi affect to pull the air needed for the nice blue flame.

I have .060 dia. holes (5) on each side. and the pipe is 12" long, Do you think they are too big?

You might just drill some holes in the pipe thats before your shut off.A adjustable regulator may be needed to fine tune your burner.

Most burners have the orifice (fuel jet) before the tube leading to where the flames come out. Maybe these pix will help.
