Finally figured out this is the place for great tips, like-minded folks, and inspiration and after trolling the forums unregistered I figured I might just have to sign up and join the ranks.
Each person on here seems to have something helpful, positive or realistic to contribute, and thought I might be able to get some help here and there from the backyard pros. The wife is getting a bit tired of the BBQ/smoking/grill/meat talk…. So, I’m Shane, a 33 year old banker from Albuquerque, NM, (Where Bugs Bunny should have taken a left). I own a Char-Griller Duo with the side fire box I use to offset smoke ribs, brisket, pork butt… you name it, I’ll try to smoke it or grill it. I have affectionately nick-named my duo “MEGA GRILL”. The Duo offers some pretty convenient versatility which helped me talk my wife into it. I also have a kettle charcoal grill I got as a birthday gift. (Not sure of the brand, it was a grocery store floor model). Free grill = happy Shane
My love for BBQ came after my dad started a BBQ restaurant in Colorado when I was about 13. Even though I had to pull unpaid shifts as a dishwasher for the family business, I loved hanging out in the kitchen with the cooks and my dad picking up just about every tip I could overhear. I weekend warrior with my grill and tinker with rubs, marinades, brines and wood chunks.
Quite honestly, I’m just happy to have a place to pick up some wisdom, share some experiences, and pick up some inspiration from like-minded fellow smokers.
