Sorry for the delayed introduction

Hey all, name's Jason, joined SMF a bit ago and never properly introduced myself.  Living in Mass now but originally from PA.  My brother turned me on to this site a bit back.

 

I've been smoking for aobut a year now, I recieved a ECB for Christmas last year (2009) and kind of just jumped in and followed intuition.  I am an avid cooking nerd and decided to try something new.  No complaints so far!

 

Now, a year in, I got tired of fighing the cold with charcoal so I went out and got a deal on an analog 30" MES (paid $129 brand new).  I have to say it was quite a step up from the ECB.  So far I've done brisket, shoulder, ribs, and jerkey among other things and I can't really complain.  My wife, friends, and coworkers don't either! 

 

Back to me, like I said I'm a huge cooking nerd!  I'm always dabbling in something new, from fresh pasta to stuffing sausage.  I'm an engineer by education which, I believe, leads me to my hobby.  I veiw everything I do in the kitchen (or backyard biggrin.gif) as a science experiment.  If I may, I have to say with quite a bit of success! 

 

I'm hoping that there's a lot I can learn from other's experiences and I hope there's even more that can be learned from my experiences!  I like to give more than I take!

 

Anyway, that's about me.  I'm looking forward to interacting with all of you in the future!

 Alot of folks circle the drain before going down it. Glad to see you finally joined up. Obviously you have seen all the great q-view on here so let's see come from that smoker you have there..

First off Welcome Jason to SMF. You'll like it here for there are alot of really good folks here that would just love to help you with just about anything to do with smoking. Now there are alot of proven recipes for some amazing things here too. So the next big thing for you to do is go out and get you something to smoke and if you happen to have any questions just post it here and we will be happy to answer them for you.

I'm originally from a small town in central PA called Coalport.  Just north of Altoona and about an hour west of State College.
