Need a good rub for first prime rib

Thread Starter

Going to be doing my first prime rib tomorrow. Looking for suggestions for a good rub. Any suggestions?

My suggestion would be to rub it with EVOO then season with salt, pepper, garlic and if you like it rosemary. I believe that the seasonings should be simple and let the flavor from that great cut of meat speak for itself

You can use pretty much anything, but personally I prefer nice & simple. 2parts black pepper, 1 part salt, 1 part garlic powder, 1part paprika.

Any decent rub will work, I just wouldn't use anything too powerful.

I agree! I used salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and a little olive oil. I smoked using cherry wood and it turned out great. With such a good cut of meat keeping is simple is the best way.

I just did one with some garlic slivers embedded in the meat and rubbed with CBP and sea salt held on with EVOO

It is going to be good with any  of the suggestions you have received
