MES 30, anybody smoke when its REALLY cold out?

I am suppose to smoke a pork butt tomorrow night for a Christmas party but its only 15 out at night right now, should it still work?

What do you mean by really cold?

You don't say where you're from.

I've done a bunch of smokes in the Winter, but I'm only from Pa. Those smokes were at temps of below 10˚.

But then there are guys who use their MES in MN, where the temp is well below "0".

They could tell you more, but I would think if you don't open the door, and keep it out of the wind, you'll be fine. You can also cover it pretty good with a welding blanket, or an old blanket (if you keep an eye on it). The MES are insulated very good, but like I said, I don't know where you are and what you mean by "really cold".

Sure ya can . folks here are hard core and smoke at below 0°.

Like Bear said, Make sure you have a good wind break (if needed).

you can wrap the mes w/ a sleeping bag or blanket(s).

just make sure that you don't cover the exhaust vent.

And keep the door closed.

(said the smoker from south Louisiana) LOL
