Thread Starter

hi everybody i just joined this site cuz what Ive seen so far looks really good. I'm really thinking about building one of these UDS so I'm sure i will have some ??? in the near feature. i have never smoked, well at least not food or cheese ill leave it at that. i was in the navy from 75-79 stationed at key west and was in the rvah-1 , 3, 6 squadrons and was an Ame (ejections seat and liquid o2 ). i now live in the far west Chicago burbs (Batavia) since i got out of the canoe club.

I'm a bow hunter as well as a spot shooter (target) and a wood turner as well as a metal worker.

in my other life I'm a carpenter. i have no kids ,no wife, house is paid and lots of free time, i guess i have no life. all I'm asking if somebody gives me tips please don't use the txt wording spell it out till i get a grip on all the abbreviations. i wish there was a list somewhere on here spelling out all this new lingo. but for now i just want to say hi and im off to find a drum, fittings, grates, lid and some meat (deer)

Welcome and thanks for the service!!

The drums are a great way to go. There pretty cheep, pretty easy and well pretty ugly at times. But its all good.

The only time I don't care for my drums is if I am simply cooking to much meat for the drums to handle, I don't care for the way mine cooks when it is slammed full to the gills.

Other than that one thing, they cook long and they offer a flavor like no other.

Good luck.
