Great for a newbie

Posted

Pros: Built in temperature guage and meat probe, electric

Cons: No stand

Bought this as my first smoker and so far I love it.  I have smoked a roast and a beer can chicken and was quite happy with both.  My only issue is the wood chip tray seems to clog up.  Plan on building a stand as it is a little hard on the back.  As another user stated, a lower cabinet for tools would be a great idea as then you have the drawers for your chips and utensils.

Great little smoker

Posted

Pros: Easy to use, built-in temp gauge and wireless remote make use a breeze.

Cons: Window is useless. No stand, Remote Control display not the best.

Great little smoker for the price. Temperature controls work great and are fairly accurate. Built-in thermometer and wireless remote work great and keeps you indoors more in cold weather.    Window on door gets dirty easy and is rather useless.  Built-in light is helpful for night time use or early morning startups.  Had to setup on work table as unit is low and it can be hard on the back. Also much easier to clean when on stand or table.   Definately recommend this smoker to someone who wants to start with something easy to use.  There are only four racks in this model but that is good enough for most needs. Smoked two pork shoulders and some...

Masterbuilt-Affordable ??

Posted

Pros: Time saving, does an excellent job, uses any kind of wood without having to buy pellets, biscuits etc.

Cons: Bad reputation of the heating element not lasting very long and no replacement part, I used mine 9-time before the haeting element burned out.

Make sure that if your are buying a Masterbuilt smoker, find out when it was made, if it is more than a year old DON'T buy it, the company only makes parts for a short  time.  My smoker is only 2-years old and they don't make the heating element any more, so now I have a $300.00 pile of junk. In the 2-years that I owned the smoker I also replaced the wood chip tray (burnt thru), the drip pan also burnt thru from the heat, the digital display after 6-months only worked part-time. The highest heat that was ever set was 205 degrees for 8 hours because it was in the winter time and was below O degrees outside.  I would not recommend any Masterbuilt smoker to anybody.

Horrible

Pros: Looks Good

Cons: Horrible Quality

This Masterbuilt Smoker is a piece of crap. First one shipped to me, the hot plate doesn't work. The second one again, the hot plate again will not get hot enough to create smoke.    My game is over with this company! They have a crappy product.

MASTERBUILT 30" SMOKER WITH BLUETOOTH

Posted

Pros: VALUE PRICED WITH LOTS OF COOL FEATURES

Cons: BLUETOOTH IS NOT SO GOOD!

First time review for the Masterbuilt (Bluetooth) electronic Smoker (m/n: 20072415).  I purchased this particular unit while on sale at Home Depot’s Spring Sale event in February 2016…  That said, I have probably utilized the unit a dozen times over the course of Spring and Summer (to include today!).  Ok, the unit is rather straightforward to use and not all that difficult to manage and smoke food with….  Here comes the icky part.   Customer service will answer the phone and actually care about your warranty claims and issues you are experiencing…  However; I have actually talked to one member of the customer service staff three times and was surprised I...

Fantastic for Ribs, Beef, and Chicken !

Pros: Temperature control and timer work together to give even, predictable results.

Cons: Little or no smoke at temps under 200 degs. Needs cold smoking accessory.

I HAVE BEEN SMOKING WITH A BULLET SMOKER AND 18" GRILL FOR OVER SEVEN YEARS. I HAD NO TROUBLE SMOKING GREAT RIBS AND CHICKEN QUARTERS FROM DAY ONE ON THE MAST6ERBUILT.  THE ONLY ATTENTION NEEDED WAS TO ADD WOOD CHIPS EVERY 45 MINS OR SO. SETUP WAS QUICK AND EASY,CLEANUP WAS A SNAP, AND THE RESULTS OF THE SMOKING PROCESS WERE ALTOGETHER PREDICTABLE FOR ALL TEMPERATURES ABOVE 200 DEGS.       I ATTEMPTED TO SMOKE A SALMON STEAK AT 145 DEGS WITH LITTLE SUCCESS. THE TEMP CAME UP AS EXPECTED BUT THERE WAS ONLY A LITTLE SMOKE DURING WARMUP. NO SMOKE COULD BE PRODUCED AFTER ACHIEVING OPERATING TEMP (145 DEGS). FURTHER RESEARCH INDICATED THAT A "COLD...

Good smoker for the money

Posted

Pros: Digital control is nice for monitoring smoker, nice size for 2 people.

Cons: Needs a stronger wattage element

My first smoker, been happy with it overall.   The digital control makes it nice for checking how the heat is doing.  Set the temp and time and it does the rest.  But you'll still want a probe temperature gauge to check the meat temperature for accuracy.    My only complaint is that it needs a higher wattage heating element for cooler/colder weather.  In the warm months, it does great.  But cooler weather puts the heating element to the test in trying to maintain and attain the desired temp setting.  Not the best for cold weather smoking, takes a LONG time to reach a temp setpoint.    It was hard to use the AMNPS tray unless you had...

We really love this smoker... I like trying different combinations of wood chips.  My neighbors always comment how good it smells.  I agree with them!!

Pros: Everything

Cons: None yet

I have had this for almost a year now. I am very impressed with the quality and construction. The digital heat and timer control is so easy a child could do it. I have done 4 racks of ribs at a time, I have done a 22lb turkey and 55lbs of pork butt at one time as others said the racks aren't huge but I just cut the rib racks in half. also I have read negative reviews about the glass door being useless. I just wipe it down whit white vinegar after each use and it has stayed perfectly clear. I also read one guy say that the moisture level is so high he couldn't get a good bark. I take the liquid pan out and open the vent all the way and get a pretty good bark.

It servers it purpose. I have no equipment issues to date

Pros: You can add pellets without opening the door, a hugh plus! remote control is a plus, i can monitor progress from anywhere in my restaurant

Cons: too much moisture, it's a little too air tight, the meat tends to sweat which makes it hard to form a bark

All in all it does what it said it would do, being able to add wood without opening the door was a major factor. I've been making my own hot smoked hams and low-n-slow Baby back ribs as well as bacon and Buckboard bacon for two years now with no problems. I have managed the humidity problems by floating a layer (thin) of veg oil on top of the water pan but I urge caution, if you are not going to be anal about watching your unit it could possibly present a fire hazard i.e. water goes dry leaving only oil. I have actually considered putting a low vent on the opposite side from the wood tray. Good smoking

Exceeds my expectations by a wide margin!

Pros: Holds a consistent temperature; makes a lot of smoke; easy to feed wood tray with the chips; remote control is superb, accurate thermometer readout.

Cons: For an old guy, it is low. Corrected by purchasing height stand from Masterbuilt.

I like it! I had a propane smoker for three years as it was my introduction to smoking. This electric smoker is easier to use and I do not have to worry about running out of the fuel supply and going out to replenish it. I had questions and concerns that were promptly answered by Masterbuilt Customer Service. Using the information on smoking-meat.com and following the directions, the results and food quality have exceeded my expectations by a wide margin. The unit has an accurate temperature gauge, and internal meat thermometer that tested accurate against my digital meat thermometer. The remote control device lets me check temperature and time when I should add wood chips to the wood...

First smoker

Posted

Pros: Remote temp control and monitor, wood chip loader, rolls

Cons: Haven't had any reason to not like it.

I've never had a smoker, but have several friends that have the real ones and compete. They seem to like my smoker a lot. I absolutely love to smoke things, and this smoker is great for what I use it for. My father-in-law bought it for me for Christmas, so the value is tremendous.

Pros: easy to use almost a set it and forget it typed of cook(do have to monitor wood chips closely though)

Cons: wood chip hopper is a bit small
