Pros: Excellent build quality, 1/4" thick steel, Nice cooking racks, parts and upgrades easily available
The horizon 20" ranger backyard smoker is really the ultimate cooking/smoking machine. 20" diameter steel pipe with 1/4" wall thickness all the way around makes this a robust and excellent smoker. The horizontal cooking chamber measures 44" long and the verticle chamber is 51" tall with 3 circular racks inside, as well as a bar on top to hang large items from for smoking. The firebox is 22" long by 20" diameter with a good solid cooking rack for grilling steaks and burgers.
The welds and build quality on this smoker are top notch, no holes or messy welds to be seen! All the lids seal really well and open & close flawlessly.
The smoker heats up nicely and holds heat really consistantly, no up and down heat fluctuations...really easy to hold a consistant 225 degrees with very little attention. Vertical chamber runs about 70-100 degrees cooler than horizontal chamber. I would reccommend the Horizon convection plate for this smoker, it takes away the hot spot right out of the firebox in the smoking chamber and spreads the heat nice and evenly across the chamber.
Something I really noticed and liked is that for a smoker this large, and weighing in just shy of 800lbs, it is balanced really well and its very simple to manouver by yourself. the 20" wheels roll really well and dont get held up on little bumps or rocks.
All in all and great smoker with a ton of room ( 2137 sq. in. ) , a good solid build that will last forever ( lifetime guarantee against burnout ) i would reccomend this smoker to anyone!! if you want more details or pictures feel free to contact me and let me know!!
