Well, I have our favorite Hot Italian recipe ready to go. Casings are soaking and the cut up Pork is thawed enough to grind. It calls for a cup of red wine. We always have an opened bottle of cheap red for cooking in the fridge. Not today:icon_confused:
There's a bottle of Sutter Home White Zinfadel and a couple bottles of Sangria in the pantry. Can I use the Sangria? We're not big wine drinkers, but keep some for company and I hate to uncork the 2012 Sutter Home for a cup to make sausage...

White Zin is sweet! ..and I'll bet the store bought Sangria is fruity & somewhat sweet as well.  Neither, are really a good choice IMO.

Thanks for the input, guys!
I'm going with the Sangria. I believe it has a red wine base. Charting new waters and all that :-)

SM I usually buy some of the real small bottles just for that.Good luck hope it turns out good for you.

Glad it turned out! That white zin is kind of old and that type of wine doesn't generally age well FWIW.

My simple rule of thumb regarding cooking with wine:

if I wouldn't drink it (whatever wine is chosen) in a glass, I certainly wouldn't add it to food.

Glad yours turned out! Happy wife, happy life!
