Well, I have our favorite Hot Italian recipe ready to go. Casings are soaking and the cut up Pork is thawed enough to grind. It calls for a cup of red wine. We always have an opened bottle of cheap red for cooking in the fridge. Not today:icon_confused:
There's a bottle of Sutter Home White Zinfadel and a couple bottles of Sangria in the pantry. Can I use the Sangria? We're not big wine drinkers, but keep some for company and I hate to uncork the 2012 Sutter Home for a cup to make sausage...

SM, I would use what is called for, isn't sangria some kind of fruity stuff ?

White Zin is sweet! ..and I'll bet the store bought Sangria is fruity & somewhat sweet as well.  Neither, are really a good choice IMO.

    Thanks for the input, guys!
I'm going with the Sangria. I believe it has a red wine base. Charting new waters and all that :)

Well, the test pattie almost made SWMBO swoon.
I've just changed our "untouchable" recipe to call for sangria instead of red wine...

At the end of the day, it's the most important part :)
It means I live to smoke or stuff again!

Glad it turned out! That white zin is kind of old and that type of wine doesn't generally age well FWIW.

My simple rule of thumb regarding cooking with wine:

if I wouldn't drink it (whatever wine is chosen) in a glass, I certainly wouldn't add it to food.

Glad yours turned out! Happy wife, happy life!  [IMG]

Couldn't agree more [IMG], if I won't drink it, I won't cook with it ! ...ergo I never buy it LOL
