What you want to make sounds real good, that's one thing nice about fatties, you can be really creative!

Try double smoking one

lol, we have the McRib sandwich at MickeyD's right now too.

I want to go to town and get one, but I can't see driving 40 mins just for that.

Hope they are still on this weekend when I make my weekly run to the store.

Happy Smokin'

It tastes pretty good for liquified, geld and pressed pork products. I unfortunately saw a show on how they make this thing called McRib. Lets just say there is very little "rib" in the McRib.

I've tried it once, that was enough for me. Didn't like the texture, it was typical McDonalds. If I was going to eat there I would get a burger. To compare that to anything I smoke would be insanity. Smoking has almost ruined going out for ribs or steak. I won't order that stuff from say, chillies or Fridays our the like, because I can't compare it to mine. I would rather cook my own.

Very true.  I'm not a big going out to eat guy anymore either.  I would rather spend the money on the steaks/ribs/chicken, etc and grill or smoke it myself.  About the only time I go out is for burgers or italian or mexican.  But I do love the McRib.  Pure goodness in a bun.

I would be interested in the fatty approach, and now have a reason to try it.  I would like to see others Q-view to make sure I am on the correct path.

I had a McRib Tuesday. I have always liked them but I will admit, they don't seem as good as they did when the first came out. Maybe my taste buds have changed over the years. Either way, I always make it a point to have them when they are available.

I only have steak when eating out if I'm at a real steakhouse, like Peter Luger's, or Prime, or one of the other good ones, and then only on business. I would never spend that kind of money on something I can cook fairly competently at home when there are a ton of similarly priced restaurants that serve stuff I can't. But the porterhouse at Bourbon Steak at the Four Seasons here in DC. It's pretty much a big hunk of charred ecstasy sitting on a plate. And if you buy prime dry aged steaks, if you can find them, it's almost as expensive as going to one of those places in the first place.

As far as the McRib goes, I was reading an article on it the other day, in the news. Evidently it has a cultish following and franchises can bring it back as a special in their area at their discretion. There have them right here in Bethesda this month. I've never had one. Guess I should give it a whirl just to see what all the hullaballo is about.

It's been at least 30 years...The McD's, where ever I have lived, just never had them, so the Original was the last for me and it ROCKED!...JJ

It's a guilty pleasure for me!  Had one last week.  Like a lot of you it's the only thing I'll eat from there (w/fries of course).  I usually bring in to work some ribs or pulled pork when I make it, and the people there think I'm nuts for liking McRibs when I can make pork the way I do.  LOL

I do like the commercial they have for it now.  A guy is at the airport with his wife about to board a plane out of the country, and his friends text him a pic of a McRib they're having.  The guy looks at his phone, panics and cries, "no!  Not now!"  His wife asks him what's wrong and he says, "the McRib is back!!"  She then says, "I married a 14-year-old!"  Why, I resemble that remark!!

I have not seen it. That is awesome! I bought everything for the fatties yesterday. Will do it up in a few weeks!

Update:  Had two last night, they were tasty but I remember more of a Char-Grilled flavor on the original. I didn't see the Burned in grill marks they used to have...JJ
