Where to buy Packer?

Hey guys!
I'm a newbie here (just got my first smoker: Smoke Vault 18)! I wanted to break it in right with the King of BBQ:Brisket. I've read lots threads on this site and others for tips. Does anyone in the DFW area know where I can find a good:37: 10-12lb Packer? I live in Denton, so not far from Dallas or Ft.Worth. Thanks guys!

Welcome to the forum!! I am not from Texas, but probably try a Costco type place. Best of luck on your first brisket!! lol.....my first was a butt for pulled pork!

Our local Sam's had USDA Prime Packers for $2.89/lb Monday. It was hard not to bring several home.

Just bought one at Costco last night.  $2.99 per pound, US Choice.

I don't know if you have Gordon Food Service (GFS) stores there, but they have some pretty good prices here. Costco has nice meat, but their brisket prices go up and down and all I ever see are big ones. I've seen them at Walmart, but I've had a couple issues with WM meat so I'm a little gun-shy. I know folks who get all their groceries at WM so maybe it's just me....

Hey there, Newbie here too.  I'm over by Sherman so we aren't far away from each other.   I have bought a couple briskets at my local Samsclub and they are pretty good.  Last weekend I tried Rudolphs meat market in downtown Dallas and it was a great butcher shop.  Anything and everything, it was a little overwhelming the amount of cuts in there.  I bought a flat there and it turned out great!  Going back on Saturday to pick up some ribs and a few other things. http://rudolphsmarket.com/

I've been finding prime packer briskets at Costco. I don't remember pricing though.

Same here on the prime briskets at Costco - $2.59/lb in my area - did one the other day and it turned out the best I've ever done.

Check your local Wal-Mart. The ones in our area just dropped their brisket prices from $2.96/lb to $2.59/lb. They usually sell select and choice by Excel, which is the same packer that Costco uses for their prime brisket. I've made many good briskets with the Wal-Mart choice.

Thanks guys! I'm seasoning my Smoke Vault as I type. Gonna do a trial run tomorrow with some Drummies....then the Brisket for the 4th. I found one yesterday at Market Street....good ten pounder Choice for 2.79..going to go grab it tomorrow. Thank yall for being so helpful to a newSmoker! I feel the love!

If you have an Albertsons near you, try there. They had their choice briskets on sale for $1.99/lb.  I picked up a 15 lb one yesterday for $30 that normally would have been $60.

Texas Howdy BTM.

I buy my packers from HEB. I think the meat is better than Albertan or Kroger.  Just an opinion.
