I called Char Griller direct and they had me check connection wires in control box area. I found nothing wrong there and tried to start the 9040 again, again I received the ERR message. I called them back and they are sending me a new heat sensor as I'm still under warranty. I will let you know if that helps me out.
I hope it works for you. I went ahead and took mine back to the store. Very disappointed, I wanted it to work but we could never get any results from customer service.
