Hi all....Pete Johnston from So California...(no Liberal jokes please...lol)!

Just getting started with developing a knowledge base about smoking stuff.., although I 'd consider myself pretty knowledgeable in plain ole' "grilling".

I've never tried smoking anything in my life, but I do have a brand-spankin' new Bar-B-Chef sidebox set-up that's all cured and ready to go. Now I just have to learn what the heck I'm doing...

Anyway.., looks like a great Forum. I've broused around briefly and it seems like darn near anything I'd need to know is here somewhere.

Welcome to SMF !!!
I feel fattys, meatloaf, ABT's and pork butt are some of the most forgiving smokes to start with.

Welcome aboard the SMF. You'll find tons of info to get you hooked on smoking. Do yourself a favor and learn about Fatty's ...mmmmmmmm

Hi from Oklahoma Pete! Lots of good info and helpful people here.
Looking forward to your input and Qviews.

Hello Pete, and welcome to the SMF. Always nice to see another So. Cal. person joining us friendly folks. Don't be shy with any questions, these folks can help you out and get you going on your road to enjoyment. Hope you're planning to attend the Tamale Festival in Indio, 1st weekend in Dec.

Thanks for the terrific welcome everyone....apprecited!

I'm not sure what I'll try first..., but Fatties sound like a good idea...

Thanks again to all....

Welcome to the forum Pete, glad you could join us.

You can't go wrong with a fatty. If you are smoking for more then just yourself then I'd recommend that you make more then one if you want to have any chance of actually getting to taste it.

Welcome to the SMF Family
