Vinegar

This may seem like a silly question, but what is the shelf life of vinegar? I'm asking because I had a neighbor that gave me a gallon jug that has no date on it. It smells fine, and I never thought about it before, but will vinegar spoil eventually?

Thanks Richtee. I've been messing with pickled eggs and wanted to be sure it was safe to use. And thanks to SMF I found a bunch of info for smoked pickled eggs, man this place is great. I'm starting to think the only thing that can't be smoked is watermelon. Wait, dont tell me somebody here already tried
