I got a sealed drum last summer.  It wasn't sealed but had the ring around it with a bolt.  Bought it new.  It sat all winter and I opened it up since it is getting warm and noticed that it has accumulated rust on the inside. It isn't very much and is really spoty.  Should this be something to worry about or would it be ok to go ahead and season it for a good 3 to for hours spraying the inside with pam.

Yes that's a big thing you have left that drum sit all winter and you didn't make it into a UDS now you have better get right on it and get busy. No it's not a big thing but you really should make that smoker I hear they are the bomb smokers too.

hmmmm, the rust spots in my opinion are not a big deal, you will kill what is causing the rust with the burn and when you do a few test runs it will seal them and season them.  But hey, I read somewhere that if you are a heavy drum user, it is possible you can wear it out in 5 years so start it, season it, smoke with it, fall in love with it.  I am in colorado and mine works just as good in 10 degrees as 70.  Good luck
