Turning up the heat in South Florida

    Hey y'all. Never smoked meat before,but decided to try my hand at a Boston Butt for a July 4th feast this evening. Getting into it, I had no idea it took so long, but I started at about 7 this morning, so I should be ready come dinner time (whenever that will be lol!)

    When all is said and done, I'll be sure to put ups some pics of my 5lb butt that's gonna be turned into some fantastic chopped pork!

     Pull up a stump an sit a while..

     Yes the butts and briskets can take many hours to smoke properly , But when all is said and done .It's worth every hour you tend the fire.

    The butt turned out great! Still chompin' on the leftovers. Unfortunately I forgot to take some pics of the meat after I pulled it, but rest assured it was delicious. Can y'all see the pic in my second post? I kept getting an error when I tried to post it, but I can see it now.

    Welcome to SMF glad you decided to join us. It looks like a good start glad to hear it came out good. We can see the Qview (Pic) what happened was that some types of post are held for moderator approval until a newer member gets x amount of posts so we had to actually approve it before it showed up. This feature is meant to try to keep spam off the site but at the same time it catches our new members that have good stuff to show us to. When I approved it I just deleted the duplicate posts and it won't be long and your posts won't be affected by the filter. Have fun and happy smoking

    Welcome aboard!  Glad to hear your first butt turned out well.  As you've probably seen there is a ton of great information and a lot of great folks here who are more than willing to help out.  Looking forward to more Qview!

    Welcome E to SMF. you'll likeit here for there are alot of good folks here that would just love to help you with just about anything to do with smoking anything. Now it looks like you already know how to smoke so kick back and read some threads and learn all you want to. Then go smoke more things and post the Qview cause we just like that stuff.
