Brand spanking new to the forum and smoking meats. I'm mostly interested in finding low or no salt recipes. I just love a well smoked brisket or turkey breast, so I am wide open for suggestions. I currently live near Detroit, MI, USA, but will be moving to south west Florida soon to take care of my mother. We are both on low sodium diets, so that's why I'm interested in low or no salt recipes. Ask me anything and I'll be happy to answer! Bye for now!

Welcome from Canada.

You have come to the right place to learn about smoking. There is practically nothing I smoke that didn't have input from the kind members of this forum.

I have been trying to cut back on my salt too but I find if I stay away from packaged food and do more home cooking, I have had a large reduction right there. I look forward to your posts.

Good evening VTrucker, welcome to SMF. I use salt and pepper only on my briskets, But there are a lot of things that will add flavor instead of salt. Mrs. Dash has quite a few different flavor combinations , one of them along with pepper would be good, I would suggest starting with some chicken, cheap, easy and give you a chance to try some different seasonings and find the right combination for your brisket.
