The Labour Day Weekend Smoke - Q-view to follow

  1. So far I've got a small prime rib, some chicken drumsticks and a meatloaf planned and I may have room for a picnic roast as well. I've got a MES so there's only so much room. Admittedly it's been about a month since my last smoke (don't beat me) and I'm looking forward to it. Supposed to be 75 and sunny all's like the BBQ gods have decreed that I get to work.

    I've never tried a beef roast so it should be interesting. The chicken's for my wife as it's her favourite though this is my first time trying drumsticks....time to read up. Meatloaf and pulled pork are favourites of mine. that I think about it I could also hook up a dryer vent pipe to the exhaust vent and try my hand at some cheese too..........

    LOL...good thinkin' Jord! Remember not to overdo the beef, depending on the quality of the roast of course. I happen to think you Canuckians don't seem to get the quality beef we do...even in MI for some damm reason anyway. But regardless.. enjoy and be safe!

  4. Rich - no worries on over doing it....I'd eat it still mooing if PETA would lay off....only problem is then it wouldn't get any smoke on it either. Luckily for me I happen to disagree with you about the quality of the beef I have available to me. :)

    Babyback - there will be a lot of just so happens that we got a foodsaver/vacuum packer as a gift not too long ago and I figured it was about time we tried it out. This way I can have some bbq real quick when I need a fix in the future.

  6. You must be going to the wrong restaurants when you're up here. :)

    Surprisingly some of the best meat that I've found is from Costco up here. Kirkland Meats. We also had a cow butchered a couple of years ago that was pretty good too. I'm still trying to line up a hog farmer around here to get a steady supply of pork.

    Anyone in the Bowmanville Ontario area on here?

    your gonna love that foodsaver. It is great for raw meat and for leftover pulled pork or brisket. it freezes real well and with foodsaver bags, you just put them in boiling water for about 10 mins and your are enjoying a nice bbq sandwich.
