Lets talk grinders.

I am getting ready to buy a grinder, LEM is local but I am not thrilled with their pricing or products. Cabelas looks good,,, so lets talk grinders and get the info rolling.

I need a RELIABLE grinder. speed is not as important as reliablity, I want electric and like the idea of being able to run mixer if I want to...

I have the cabelas 1hp grinder and the 40 lb meat mixer that bolts up to the grinder and love it. The grinder has lots of power. It works well. RC

I have the cabelas 1 1/2 Hp grinder and really like it i know several other people who have the same grinder and they seem to like them i also have the mixer and cuber attachments for the grinder so far everything has worked great

As a Rookie! Linda Lou bought this for me. Depends on how far you want to get into this gig! Quite happy with it's performance.


With the help of Texas Hunter & Richtee. Louie & I did this Chicken Apple Sausage first time outta the chute!

I have the 1/2 horsepower Cabelas commercial grade grinder which is the smallest of the good ones. I do quite a bit of pork and venison. It has never been stuck or clogged and has never even strained. Just saw them on sale for $269 I think. I think I paid a little more.

i got lucky and traded a commercial hobart grinder with 4 plates and 2 tubes for cooking at a hunting camp 2 weeks ago. It may be 220v but ill be able to grind anything without a problem and now need to get me a small hand cranker for those jobs less than 50 pounds. I know very little about sausage but have learned a lot here.

I've got the 1hp. Cabela's grinder and love it! Here it is making sausage (before I got a stuffer). Still do small batches stuffing with it too.

I got the same on that Slanted 88 received - no idea what the horsepower rating is, about 1/2? I figured it was half-price, and an easy way to see if I wanted to dive into the sausage game. It has worked well for limited runs, but if I had to do 50+ pounds I'd sure want something faster.

Has anyone heard of any problems with the Cabelas? It seemes everone who has them is happy with them.

I've got an older model 1/3 hp Cabella's grinder size 8 now the 1/2 hp. still going strong.

I bought mine off ebay a year ago. The brand name is ALFA. 1hp. Have not had a problem with it. Weighs 90#, very well put together with reverse. Rated to grind 500 pounds and hour. Cost on this was $375.00. The ones they sell at Cabelas are very nice as well. Especially the all metal ones.

I have the Northern Tool one and it does a good job. Lots of power.

They go on sale for $99 once in awhile.

One thing I wish I had was all stainless steel parts, so I could clean up with the dishwasher. The ones with aluminum trays, etc., you can't, the dishwasher soap turns aluminum black.

The Cabela's Pro 450 is a copy of the Waring Pro MG800. I would have to assume Waring makes it. The Norther Industrial is a copy of the Tasin TS 108 and again I suspect that it comes from Tasin.

I have a Tasin TS 108 and it's a fine grinder with a 1200 watt motor. Loud as they come. They don't list the horsepower but the grinding output is like 230lb/hr.

The Cabela commercial grade grinder that ranges in from 1/2 HP to 1 3/4 HP looks like one sturdy unit but certainly more money even at the 1/2 HP it's almost triple what I paid for my Tasin.
