  1. my wife went to flip some smoked chicken wings and tell me honey, the door to your smoker is on the ground.......

i went out and it when she opened the door and swung it open it game off the hinges, right now the door is too hot to mess with trying to tighten it up, i just set it there and used the door clasp to hold it on,

    this is the top hinge

I think they have a 1 year warranty, so if it was last year, you should be covered.

Does the MES 30 power on? but just does not heat up?

They are easy to fix if that is the problem, mine just did that last week, fixed it in no time.

There are some really good threads on MES element wire repairs...

Your MES 40 hinge looks fixable, it sucks when things get busted. When my element in my MES 30 went out I was about 10 hrs into a Pastrami smoke. [IMG]

I think even if it's out of warranty they will stand behind it. They have very good customer service.

There have been others on this forum several years back that had a door issue.  Fortunately it is rare.  If you already had one MES die and you were loyal buying a 2nd, I am fairly certain that Masterbuilt will take care of you.  It isn't uncommon for them to replace the whole unit.
