What do you guys think of these? I'm now hooked on smoking and want to upgrade from my Brinkmann Gourmet. What's the word on these things? I've heard some good things but I figured I check here first.

I've hear and read some great reviews on the Big Green Egg, I don't think you can go wrong on that choice.

Yeah they are pretty pricey. I think for the 18" they run about $700. I really got hooked after my first smoke this weekend and want something nice.

Do you guys have any suggestions as to something else? Is there a pecking order here on smokers?

I have a Brinkmann Gourmet charcoal that was free. I am going to stick with that for a while until I have it down pretty good. This is a purchase that is down the road, just trying to gather some info.

for 700 bux.........it outta take the meat outta the fridge......rub it......put it inside of itself and then serve it on one of rich's nice pretty plates........

I haven't really came up with a price range yet but probably nothing more than a $1,000.

As for my needs, I'll probably smoke about 15-20 times per year

Skipper -

They are wonderful smokers and cook real well. The only problem I have is the bang for the buck. 18 inches is smaller than your Brinkmann! I know I out grew my Brinkmann in about a month! I still use it but when I do I'm using more than one smoker at a time - it usually it gets the over flow!

Thanks, Deb.

I was thinking the same thing. I've heard a lot of nice things about them but they seem a little small.

You know you could buy 5 GOSMs for that price or even 2 Smoke Vaults!

5 shelves full of goodies all at once!

DOn't get me wrong they are really nice and apparently cook fast but not much room for the price unless can buy a few of them ...
