Temp controller for a new Smoke Hollow 30" elec.

  1. Used this smoker for the first time yesterday for beef jerky. With the controls on the lowest setting I could not keep the temp under 250° also the wood chips would not smoke without using a torch to help them get going. When the wood chips werr going the temp would go to over 300°. Any help would be appreciated. Thinking either a bad controller or element. Thanks

  2. I've had the same experience with this unit. Sad we didn't research it further before purchasing. I'm going to attempt to drill some additional ventilation and add a damper. Hopefully this will allow me to control the heat better. Ill let you know how this goes.
