Hello All

I know that I am going about this a bit backwards in that, right or wrong I am already well into my smoker build..

I originally planned to make this a propane only smoke but thought that I would regret not making it capable of burning wood.

I am very open to suggestions, one question that I have now is diameter and height of the stacks?

Here is what I have so far.

My basic plan:

Started with this:

My work so far:

Nice.

Looks like you have come a long way so far.

Need to know the dimensions of your tank to determine the exhaust sizes.

At a swag, I would go with 4" diameter 36" long.

Thanks
The tank is 200 gallon, the firebox is 18"x 24"
I haven't had any time to work on the smoker. I am just back from a week at Boy Scout camp with my sons.
I am hoping to get some shop time this afternoon.....

I know that it is probably way too small but... I really do not plan to use wood in it very often (if ever).

I looked at some of the size calculators before I began and saw the 1/3[sup]rd[/sup] firebox size but that seemed so large for my unit.

I doubt that I have the skill or the attention span to control a wood fire…

It was originally going to be a propane only unit but I felt that it should have a firebox.

I really do appreciate your feed-back on the stack sizes, now I need to scrounge up some tubing..

Yeah, that is way too small.

The size of the firebox is not exclusively determined by burning logs.

Burning charcoal to get the same BTUs will use the same amount of air for combustion.

You are in uncharted territory.

I advise a larger FB, but it is your smoker.
