Hi everyone,
Jeremy here in North Carolina. Last summer I bought an "ECB" off craigslist for $10 and with help from this forum produced some average to very good food with A LOT of effort. I made several batches of the meatballs wrapped in bacon, atomic buffalo turds and some a couple of racks of baby back ribs before I modded the ECB as described on this forum with a simpler (worse) smoke vent.
After modding I smoked some more ABTs, meatballs, and tried a stab at chicken quarters. I learned a lot in the process, but was constantly frustrated with temperature management and all aspects of charcoal. I really tried to embrace the charcoal and learn to use and love it, but never did.
Long story short, I decided to get a propane smoker, and will be giving it another go. It is the Char-Broil Vertical Propane Smoker, bought at Wal-Mart yesterday and assembled by my girlfriend while I fried some wings and fries in our outdoor fryer. So I will start off easy today if the weather holds out with some bacon wrapped meatballs just to see if the thing actually works, and then move on from there.
Let's just hope I am not posting here a year from now talking about my new electric smoker!
