ok.. so I'm replacing the plastic gears in my Kitchener 5 lb Stuffer... $4 for the small one... $7.50 for the big one... so I got 2 sets...
looking at the picture notice the big gear (we'll say upright, teeth at the top)... my thinking is... when in this position, the very top of the gear that rubs against metal frame wears down over time. So when plunger starts pushing down on the meat, the threaded rod is pushing UP on that big gear, which in turn separates the teeth of the big gear up and away from the teeth on the little gear...
Since the big gear will fit in ether way (upright or upside down).. why not put the big gear in upside down so when pressure is applied it will push the big gear up and in turn push the teeth up into the teeth of the small gear ??
Does this make any sense and has anybody actually tried it ?? I'm gonna try it since they are cheap and I have a second set for backup if all goes bad....
