Has anyone tried "climbing" squash vines on a "trellis" of any sort? I have limited garden space but like the Table Ace Hybrid Acorn winter squash and I'm thinking of trying to run them up something like a cattle panel to conserve space. If anyone has tried this let me know if I'm wasting my time. It works very well for my cucumbers.

I've done plenty of cukes, but never tried squash. I have seen pictures of loaded trellises full of squash, so it has to work. Give it a try.

#1 get a bush variety.
I rented a city garden plot last year and the guy on the plot next to me fenced in his space. My Acorn and Butternut just happened to grow up the side of the fence. This was unintentional but if you try I'm sure you can "train" them to climb up your support. Just GENTLY guide the runner shoots up and they should take. Also see if your local nursery has a horticulturist on staff they should answer questions for free. Bachman's here in minneapolis does that. Heck bachmans.com might have an online q&a where you can email em.

absolutly, have had acorn, buttercup, butternut, and spaghetti squash all on fencing, also cucumbers and muskmelons. i use hog panels which you can get at a fleet store, cut in half lengths(come in 8 and 12 foot lengths)
turn on end stick stubs in dirt and put a tee post behind and wire it together. quicck n ez and last forever. they have 6"x6" squares which works great. wish i hhad pics. this year i will. another topic for tomatoes i take roll fencing and make a circle around 3 foot across, plant maters around outside and tie cages to the fence circle. inside the circle i throw grass clippings, leaves i bagged prev fall, etc. layer green and carbon and let it turn into compost. only thing i do is make sure keep moist, dont let it go dry. every time it rains or you add water to it the compost tea leaches into ground fertilizing ur maters. have had some pretty awsome maters since i started this.
