I hope everybody is doing great! Looks like the gathering was a success! Would have loved to have been there!! Here's my challenge for you. I'm trying to find a good spritz recipe, rub and sause that doesn't have anything
sweet in it. The wife and kids will not let me put anything sweet on their meat. No pineapple on the ham no brown sugar on the roast......

Right now I'm just using a rub of granulated garlic, granulated onion, season salt and pepper (very little she doesn't like that either!!) Man she's picky!!!

Well duh...the reason I put this in the beef forum is I'm looking at doing an 8# sirloin tip roast this weekend!

I think you better ask her what she "does" like and then try to work on something from there.

You're taking a lot of classic and traditional ingredients out of the mix and from what the intent of a rub and sauce is.

You might need to consult a book like this.....

Just my opinion.....but you're gonna fail alot until you know what you can use and in what quanity.

If she doesn't like the traditional seasoning smaybe you could try a twist and rub it down with some herbs like basil, marjoram, oregano and thyme. Add chili powder and cayenne if she likes it hot and spicy. You can also try to spritz it with some dry red wine.

Excellent idea!

Here's another one along with Ron50's idea. Use the fresh/dried herbs, but also add a fresh clove of garlic. Make small slits in the meat, then stuff the slit with the herbs and garlic. No herbs? Try green onion and garlic in the slits.

One more idea is to just use a mixture of salt, pepper, and granulated garlic. Rub the roast down with a little EVOO, and start patting/rubbing the mixture on......

The last one I did turned out good but I used a store bought Q sauce on it. Tangy but not sweet. I thought I saw a spritz on this site that didn't have anything in it that was sweet. It has apple cidar vinegar in it and I have been trying to find that. I do like the idea trying other herbs she does like those!

This weekend I want to try the tip roast and I'm just dieing to try the ABT's!!!!!!!

Didn't think about using beer....she does like her beer!!! Me too!!! Spritz the meat spritz my insides...spritz the meat....spritz my insides!!! LOL!!!

Thanks!!!

Thanks Debi! I'll check it out. She's just very particular and doesn't like sweet added to her meat! We've always used garllic onion season salt and pepper! I just want to find something new! Mucho appreciated!

Huge thanks to ya Debi! Been browsing the booklets and you've already given me ideas I just hadn't thought about and I think she'll love em!! Too bad I couldn't talk her into the "Cajun Angle Dust"!!!! She doesn't like the heat too much either!! Just me and the kids!! She makes the best Gumbo but we have to add the heat after!!! Thanks again!
