Kinda threw together a Memorial Day smoke on Sunday for some family and friends and the weather just didn't cooperate.
20lbs top round roast, 5 racks of babybacks, and some abts for me.

The roast

The roast was rubbed with Plowboy's Bovine, the ribs with Plowboy's Yardbird

Chance of an ofternoon thunder storm... no biggie, right?

Started coming down harder and thundering getting louder...probably should move the smoker inside

Then it started coming down

Oh well, we're under cover. Roast at 137...off to the cooler.

Threw on the abts....1/3 cream cheese, 1/3 grated mexi cheese, and 1/3 hot italian sausage.

Abts done...woofed em down before anyone saw em, lol!

Bad pic of the roast, but it was perfect...for me anyways.

The stormed turned so bad that half the guests didn't make it...torrential downpour w/ hail, strong winds, and violent thunder & lightening. Haven't seen a storm that bad in quite awhile. Those that did come ate very well...lol. Gotta see if dad got some more pics when I see him tonight....I'll post them here if he got any.
Thanks for checkin out my Thunderstorm Party.

Gene,
Everything looks Delicious. Got the drool factor going. Those ribs especially caught my eye. Did you spritz them with anything? Weather was good here until sunday night, got very windy but only sprinkles that lasted all day monday. Well any leftovers, you can send em' this way.lol

Nice save, Gene.

Looks tasty! All that fat on the roast . . . yyyyuuummm . . . I bet that made a really juicy meal. Thanks for the post.

Best,
Trout

Too bad about the storm. You pulled it off though, good job. Nice food.

Looks like a fine smoke grothe. Points for the save and even more so for hiding those abt's for the chef. Guess that was the good part about the weather...you were able to hide inside.

Just beautiful food, grothe! Awesome job and too bad about the weather forcing you all indoors. Your roast is what I focused on, nothing better than a nicely done beef roast in the smoker. Excellent! You've definitely earned points for that and everything else to boot.

Great looking meal. Yeah the weather has been pretty bad here as well. Grill and smoker are on the covered patio so meal prep has been uninterrupted

That is the coolest country lookin smoker I've ever seen. Sorry bout the rain, I had problems with that too. The soffit underneath our apartment did the job to keep mine dry.
