SOME ADVICE REGARDING A PRIME RIB, PLEASE

Discussion in 'Beef' started by smokeitifugotit, Dec 30, 2013.

  1. I made a mistake and ordered twice as much prime rib than we need. I've already prepped the whole thing for the smoker with a rub, etc. Think I could cut it in half and freeze the seasoned remainder for awhile, rather than cooking it all right now?

    Thanx,
    Fred. :help:

    Sure...shouldn't be a problem.

Freeze it. The salt can cause rancidity with long freezer storage, >6 months, but if you will eat it by the Summer months you will be fine. Just wrap it very well to avoid freezer burn...JJ

  4. Thanks guys, I'm now officially "down with that". Knowing me, it won't be much longer than a month.
