Hey, thanks for all of the advice thusfar... smoked a Boston Butt yesterday using advice gleaned from Meowey and also used a variation of Soflaquer's finishing sauce, phenomenal!! So good in fact that I want to do something similar for a crowd. 10+ people. I need something that will be pretty much "hands off" once I get started since I'll be home-brewing simultaneously. I figured some type of butt or shoulder would be ideal since the meats internal temp goes so high. I've got an ECB, don't know if that's a limiting factor or not but I've produced some amazing stuff on it! Anyway, what would you think would be better, some type of picnic, a shoulder, boston butt??? For what it's worth, I've done a picnic and it seemed much less fatty than the butt. My end goal is to have pulled pork that's not too messy for a crowd. Thanks for any help!!
Chris

For pulled pork, you want the fat content of the butt vs the picnic. I would go for two small butts.

If you are to busy to tend the fire, you can always foil and finish them off in the oven.

payson when is this smoke of yours going to be?

I have done it before where I smoked a butt on reheated it in a crock pot the next day.

This allowed me to partake in the festivities

Thanks for the advice. Boston Butts it is!

By God I don't know why I didn't think of that. I'll take care of it a few days in advance!!
