Hello,

I've just been given this site from a new friend of mine who I met last week.

Our names were drawn at the Pennsylvania Elk Expo this past August in Benezette, Pa.

My friend was drawn for a bull elk and I was drawn for a cow elk. The hunt itself was from 11/2 to 11/7th.

We were both successful in harvesting an elk and I am now looking for information on purchasing a smoker....never done this before and would appreciate any feedback on what type or style of smoker to look for. It is just my husband and I so I don't need a very large smoker but I do have alot of elk meat and am looking forward to experimenting with the smoker.

My name is Jackie and I am from Shenandoah, Pa. which is located in northeastern Pa (coal regions).

Looking forward to sharing info and probably more so receiving info....this is a new experience for me and am excited.

Jackie

Hello , Jackie . Welcome to our world  Kudos to your friend for suggesting the site !

Yes , you will have a lot of fun ,info. , and (maybe ) , more friends. :yahoo::yahoo:

As for looking for a smoker , you'll need to decide how you want to cook - Electric set and forget , Gas , or charcoal . Then there is the business of looking at and reading reviews of the type you want ,ex.. I learned to smoke on a Side Fire Box and burning all wood . I tried other ways and read testimonials of a lot , then decided I loved the way I learned and got back into the same way.

Look through our " Articles " ( on the bar at the top of each page ) , and ask questions in the discussion forums . After your search you will have a much more informed decision !

Go to one of our ( smoker types forums ) and ask some of the guys your questions , they are anxious to meet you and offer info .

So , I wish you fun and friendship , good smoking and . . .
