I used a variation on one of the brines someone else had posted and smoked them for about 6 hours yesterday. Yumm!!
Here's what I used:
1.5 gallons water
1 cup Kosher Salt
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup white sugar
1/2 cup soy sauce
and a few shakes of minced onion, since I didn't have any onion powder!
Soaked them for about 12 hours and smoked them with apple and a little hickory for about 6 hrs. until at 185.

I have to admit I've never brined a chicken before, so I can't say if this is better or worse than any other recipe, but it went over well!
Feel free to try it out.

Well...as long as you and they like it, eh? Lotta sugar in the brine. But that's MY call. I am a sugar minimalist LOL!

Where's the onion, rosemary, thyme, parsley? Make that brine WORK!

On edit..I missed the onion minced..works fine. Also consider a semi-sweet white wine. I use dry of course, but you could sub that for some of the sugar.

Looks good congrats on the first brine and some tasty looking birds
