Any one ever try the flax seed oil to season the grates?

I have done my CI pans and it makes clean up easy

TIA Richie

Gave them a light coat of Flax Seed oil Tuesday, only heated them to 425* for about 30 minutes. They look pretty good.

Second coat is on cooking at 500*

will update when I finish with the seasoning

What would be the best way to clean them afterwards? Would a grill brush mess up the coating?
If these get like my CI pans I may bring them in,hit them with hot water and the stiff brush.just looked and I am reheating the bottom was still tacky

Heat is the easiest cleanup.

I have never cleaned my Grill grates ever, on any smoker, pit or grill, I brush at the end of a cook and once again when the grates are warmed up prior to cooking, if you have grates with a flat bottom and rounded top, flip every so often, turn up the heat brush off the bits, cool and flip back.

I think I may have cleaned them once on my old gosm gasser years ago and once on the pit after seasoning but that was before I knew any better.

I think this seasoning will help keeping them clean.I know the heat works just trying to avoid the metal brush, getting one of the wooden scrapers.
