I was in the market for a new grill/smoker and had my eyes on a Gator Backyard Classic or a Lang reverse flow offset.  Then I learned about Kamado grills and settled on a Vision Classic.  Then I learned about Big Green Eggs and Primo cookers.  I settled on the Egg because of its lifetime warranty and how close the dealer is to my house.  I chose the XL Big Green Egg and here she is in all her glory.

Here are my first two cooks.  Chicken the first time and ribs the second time.

  4. Congrats on the new BGE!! Get some of the Oakridge BBQ Santa Maria Steak Seasoning and put it on some good 2 inch thick steaks. Throw them on and do a reverse sear and you will be in heaven. That rub is fantastic on steaks.

  6. I have those same claws and I really like them. They make pulling very easy.

  7. Subscribed, because I bought a Jacuzzi the other day and the dealer, who also happens to be a BGE dealer, threw in an Egg as part of "negotiations".  I happened to name drop a friend's name who is a massive Egghead and buys all his stuff from this store, and all of the sudden I found myself signing for both a hot tub and an Egg.  Amazing how that happened... at least that was the story I told my wife. [IMG]

I got a large, not an XL, but I'm sure I'll benefit from keeping up with this thread anyway.

I found a youtube tips & tricks vid for the BGE.  The most valuable thing i learned from it was the placement of the daisy wheel cap so it doesn't move when you open your lid.  I learned to put the daisy wheel so that the "big green egg" words is on the left side.

  11. The friend I mentioned in my post has told me about that also.  He said that and burping the BGE are the most important things a newbie needs to know.
