OK I always see the word pit-master thrown around and in my opinion we are all masters of our own pits.  Well today I think I mastered another mans pit.  A friend of mine asked me to cook for his kids birthday party and I said sure then he said lets cook enough for 50 people and I said no problem.  I have a friend at work who let me use his pit.  I have always wanted to try his pit it is a homemade fraken-pit.  The pipe is 1 inch thick and it held temp like a champ.  The firebox was in the middle and it looks like a third grader welded it.  I love it it has personality and proves that you do not need a 10000 rig to turn out great que.

My wife is my cooking partner or maybe it is the other way around.

Oh and we had some Yard Bird too!!

Yea I lost about 50 than found 10 of it back [IMG] it has been a year since my wife and I did our last comp.  I have started to look for some more and have a few in the fall circled on my calender.  Our big pit has not been getting as much use as the UDS it is real hard to control the temp on it was a bad design with a very small fire box.

To handle that kind of crowd on a first time pit shows real skill. Especially on a beast like that. Great pics and great job.

No skill was involved that I did not learn on this site. When I first started cooking I had no idea how to cook anything.

It real simple you tell her that you once heard a story that underneath the membrane of the spare ribs sometimes you find diamonds.
