Do I have time to smoke a rib roast when I get home in about an hour.
Also what type of wood do you use.

How big of roast, what temp, how long to get your smoker up to temp?

Wood choice is all a matter of personal preference.

4.9 lbs doesnt take my smoker very long to get up to temp.gas smoker

I did a 4.5 pounder for christams....I seared in oven at 450 degree for 15 minutes and cooked at 325 degree rest of way....took 1.5 hours to get to 125 degree internal and loosely rested in foil for 20 minutes...she was 135 degree after resting....Just a time frame.....
