My question is do ribs that are not packed in solution produce better results. I say this because I usually buy my ribs from a market and yesterday I bought some cyro-packed tyson ribs packed in solution. I cooked them the same as always, but they tasted salty and like ham. The solution is the only thing I can think of.

I try to buy without any additives, then I'm sure it's going to taste like what I put on it an not interact with something they put in it. I'm lucky enough to have a couple of markets here in town that still have butchers. Most places now it's processed and shipped in already packaged.

IMHO, stay away from SOLUTION packed anything

IronTide, the replies to your problem are all correct. Try to stay away from ribs that someone else has added any flavoring or preservatives. I know this may be a problem within itself, but give it a try.
