I have used natural hog casings for sausage but never collagen. The question I have is do you pre-soak collagen casings like you do natural casings? I want to make some sausage sticks and have the collagen casings, just need a pointer here.

NO don't soak them and if yu hav the same delimma that I do you can't get small casings such as 19-22mm that aren't collagen. I really don't like having to tie each end of them either. But if I want snack sticks for the wife then I have to tie the ends. You know the answer to that wife wants......wife gets and I tie each end.......................wife HAPPY.............me Happy

Thanks for the info guys. I have some 17mm collagen casings that I got from thesausagemaker.com that I want to try out. I'll just use butchers twine to tie the ends off.

Nope dont soak em.

I did once to see how they would work. I got pretty decent results but dont do it if you dont have enough casings.
