So I posted a thread awhile ago about building a smoker! I have decided on the dimensions s of 5' tall, 40" wide and 40" deep. Gonna make it so I can use propane or electric depending on what temps I want. What do you guys think of these vents? Thinking of putting 2 on the bottom front and back. Then 1 on each side very near the top. Will these work? Will I get sufficient airflow? Do I need one on every side at the top? Please let me know what you guys think!!

Those vents are arched. The smoker has to be curved too. They are built for the green egg. Look on smokersupply.com for better suited items for your build.

Im not sure if your planning on using 4 of those or 6 those but at $30 each even 4 is gonna run you $120. Not sure what your budget is but that seems like a hefty amount just on vents. Im sure you can find much more simple cheaper applications.

To answer your question though, you will get sufficient flow just have to manage it.

I know they are spendy but if im bUilding something nice might as well go all out. Yes those vents are arched, I have a green egg and that's where I got the idea from! I'm sure you could flatten them and rivet them in place don't ya think?

Ok so it's been awhile since I've posted on this thread!
I decided to go with electric only. Plan on putting one slider vent on the bottom front and 3 slider vents near the top. Will this work or would it be better to put a stack on it? I have the frame welded together and the inside put together inside the frame. Kinda in limbo til I figure out exactly what to do with the vents. Also... with this size smoker should I go with a 240v element? Thanks guys and please help!
