Pre tubed casings

    I just bought some hog casings from a butcher ( while I was out of town), the ones he sold me where pre tubed and they were left over from their production that day.

    So they came in a bag, already washed and ready to just slide on the stuffer......... trouble is i have some out of town stuff to do and I wont be using them for a while. 

    How should I store them? should I drain the water and place in salt? or do I need to pull the plastic former off?

    Sorry, if this is a dumb question, but what are pre tubed casings? I've never seen them in my area.

    I would also like to know this. Would these be better than the pre packaged ones. I am looking for not so tough casings after smoking brats.

    Pre tubed means they have been fed on to a plastic hollow tube. You slide the tube over the sausage stuffer horn, grasp the sausage casing and pull back ( retract) the plastic tube.

    Vhalla! you now have sausage casing threaded onto your stuffer ready to go.

    Thanks. I've never seen those. Too bad, they would be handy.
